I have been a longtime reader of your blog. Thank you for being a hub of information to the filmmaker community.

Recently I completed a short film titled “The Promise”. We launched it on Father’s Day, and the reception has been great. You can view the short film at: or

I’m not sure if Planet 5D accepts user-submitted content, so I am writing to inquire if you could give it a plug if you like the film.

“The Promise” was shot with a Canon EOS C300 with Carl Zeiss CP.2, with pickup shots done with a Canon EOS 5D Mark II, and a small portion of B-cam with a RED EPIC.

Video Description:

“The Promise” is a heartwarming story about a widowed father and his son, whose lives are intertwined with a red umbrella they share. Spanning three decades, from the 1980s to modern-day Singapore, their story culminates in a revelation about the umbrella and how it symbolizes a promise that binds three generations past, present and future.

Starring Michael Lee, with appearances by Daniel Chen, Brien Lee, Abby L. Kahei and Jacob Teo, “The Promise” is proudly sponsored by PFP Associates representing AIA Singapore.

“The Promise” has been nominated for the Best International Film and Best Story Golden Award, along with a Best Director Award of Merit in the 2014 World Film Awards.
